Robert Siodmak (August 8, 1900 - March 10, 1973) was a film director born in Memphis, Tennessee (sometimes his birthplace is stated when Dresden, Germany). He emigrated, by using his personal, to Germany at age one. He worked as the stage director & a banker prior to becoming editor & scenarist for Kurt Bernhardt within 1925. Sustaining a rise of Nazism he left Germany for Paris and within 1940 Paris for Hollywood. Around Hollywood he was universally an assignment director, however managed to bring a influence of German cinema to his projects & direct occasionally nifty film noir. Of his film-noir output The Killers (1946) is regarded as one of a right of this Western film style.
He returned to Germany in the Fifties.
